Why AMV?

Ave Maria Village is recognized as a leading provider of long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services in southeast North Dakota. We are a not-for-profit, faith-based skilled care provider, sponsored by the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation. Ave Maria Village serves individuals of all faiths. We have 100 licensed skilled beds, ten of which are in private transitional care suites, specifically for patients who come to us for short-term therapy and/or recovery. Ave Maria Village has daily, on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy professionals. In all, we have a skilled professional team of over 180, including a full-time chaplain. Ave Maria Village is certified for participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, is licensed by the North Dakota State Department of Health, and is a contracting facility with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We also have formal relationships with three regional hospice providers. Ave Maria Village also manages an adjacent 58-unit licensed assisted living facility, Heritage Centre of Jamestown.

Mission Statement

"Ave Maria Village, inspired by the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation, serves those in our care with respect and compassion as we strive to fulfill the healing mission of Jesus."

We truly strive to live our mission by providing care and services in the spirit of Jesus Christ to all individuals we care for and encounter. As a member of the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation Health System, Ave Maria Village is supported by a larger community of health care ministries and professionals with experience and expertise in aging, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. For over 100 years, the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation have been involved in health care ministry, mainly in rural North Dakota, but also in central Illinois. Their Provincial House is located at Maryvale, near Valley City, North Dakota.

Healing Hospitality

At Ave Maria Village, healing hospitality is part of our culture. Our goal is to make our residents, guests, and staff members feel comfortable, welcome, and respected. When practiced faithfully by a dedicated and committed staff, healing hospitality manifests itself through a sense of warmth and positivity which affects all who enter our doors.

Our RESPECT Philosophy is based on meeting the needs of our residents by living out a specific set of values. We honor each member of our resident community as an individual whose time and opinions matter. We believe residents should direct their own care as much as possible and should be encouraged to pursue their individual interests. Each letter in our RESPECT acronym stands for a different value in our care philosophy, as follows:

  • Relationships are purposely developed and nurtured among residents, families, staff, and community. Consistent relationships between residents and staff build trust and enhance continuity of care.
  • Environment is homelike, offering Christ-like hospitality to enhance socialization, independence, and dignity.
  • Stewardship is using responsibly, all of our God-given gifts.
  • People-directed Care honors residents' choices, ensures they maintain control of their lives and preserve their human dignity.
  • Ethical Care is guided by the Ethical & Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services in all our decision-making. We act on behalf of justice for all, especially for the poor and the most vulnerable in society.
  • Compassion calls us to love and respect those in our care as Jesus would, recognizing the individuality of each person and responding to their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.
  • Teamwork commits us to the common good by serving with Spirit-filled joy and integrity. All team members are individually responsible for promoting an atmosphere of service and open communication among residents, family and staff.
